About
I am a native of Waterloo, IA, and a graduate of The University of Iowa, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies. My broad professional background includes leadership roles in Human Resources, Diversity Management, and Community Relations. Currently, I serve as the Associate Director of Diversity and Inclusion for The University of Iowa in Iowa City. Over the years, I've also served as a motivational and leadership expert, teaching and speaking at local and national levels on HR and diversity-related work.
Many people know me best as a former standout student-athlete at The University of Iowa, where I earned Freshman Player of the Year accolades, was named co-captain, and earned All-Big 10 honors as a fullback.
I’ve always had a passion for music, especially House Music. During my college years, I was instrumental in bringing student-athletes to events hosted by Deus Entertainment, often buying used equipment to practice my craft. As a life member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, I actively promoted Deus across all Divine Nine organizations. Despite a full athletic, academic, and community schedule, I collaborated with local DJs to strategize ways to elevate the Deus brand and joined leadership discussions to bring new ideas to the table.
After taking several years off to focus on family obligations, I resurfaced in 2018 and reconnected with Deus Entertainment to develop future business concepts. Today, you can catch me behind the decks as DJ LuRoc.
